On-site Workshops and Presentations
Anger in The Workplace
Anger in the workplace is costly. It interferes not only with the morale of the setting but impacts productivity at all levels. Anger and conflict undermine productivity in wasted time, reduced motivation, increased absentiism, vandalism, and loss of personnel. In the extreme cases, it can lead to violence in the workplace. Too often, companies tend to ignore the warning signs of less severe anger as they direct their attention to the bottom line. However, addressing these issues as soon as they are revealed is the ideal time for intervention. A rapid and articulated response provides a clear communication regarding expectations as well as helps to promote an atmosphere of safety.

Workshops on anger and conflict resolution are available on-site for companies and agencies. These are tailored to the needs of the business and based on an assessment inventory completed prior to presentation. Additionally, this assessment includes identifying specific anecdotes of concern, in an effort to help formulate a focused and relevant training experience. Workshops can be scheduled for a 1/2 or a full-day format. The workshop format is recommended when a general training experience is indicated for the work setting or when a group of individuals are being required to participate in such training.

The workshop is based on the model of anger described previously on this website and emphasizes its application in the workplace. It highlights strategies dealing with anger and conflict between supervisors and employees, coworkers, employees and the public, or other interactions that may occur within the setting. While the general model is the basis for the workshop, the specific applications will depend on the specific concerns of the business. When appropriate, these workshops include opportunities to role-play a variety of anger conflict management strategies.

Training Workshops - for mental health, teachers, parents
In addition to workshops for business, I offer workshops for groups that are involved in mental health, teaching and parenting. These workshops provide participants with information and strategies for anger management that can then be presented in workshops for their identified populations. Additionally, it offers theory and strategies that can be applied in the context of counseling or teaching. When indicated, I provide the workshop in a format that can be replicated by participants for the various target populations with whom they work. As such, I have presented workshops for mental health professionals providing counseling, and psychotherapy as well as for individuals who work in group homes. I have also provided training to teachers to help address the need for anger management and education in the classroom. This workshop emphasizes training that can be directly taught in the context of any curriculum as well as approaches that can be applied for classroom management.
